Combating deforestation and forest degradation
Adopted on 9 June 2023, EU Regulation 2023/1115 (EU Regulation) aims to reduce the impact of European consumption on deforestation and forest degradation and contribute to the fight against climate change. It seeks to prohibit the placing on the market or export from the European market of products that have contributed to deforestation or forest degradation.

The application of the EU Deforestation and Forest Products Regulation (EU RD) is postponed to 31 December 2026, and to 30 June 2027 for SMEs.
- Prior to placing products listed in Annex I of the regulation on the market or exporting them, a due diligence declaration must be completed to guarantee that the products do not originate from deforested or degraded plots.
- During customs clearance, the due diligence declaration number is a mandatory piece of information to be entered in the customs declarations.
